Young people explore how to nurture habits of order and organisation
Young people from the Gold Coast and neighbouring communities have explored how to nurture organisational habits, focus and spiritual excellence as part of a junior youth camp held during the winter school holidays.
The participants completed the book Habits of an Orderly Mind which follows the discussions of a group of friends who seek to identify some of the habits they wish to develop such as formulating ideas in an orderly sequence, expressing them with clarity, planning and prioritizing. These habits then allow them to draw upon their intellectual and spiritual powers.
Junior youth animator Aysa said something that stood out to her was how the book taught both participants and facilitators how to maintain organised lives.
“Like timing … what are you doing in the morning and what are you doing at night,” she said. “I started having my own timetable in my calendar in my phone.”
Participants said the program also explored the importance of praying together as a unit, and the impact that saying devotions together had on the community.
