National Spiritual Assembly elected for upcoming year
The nine members of the national governing body of the Australian Baha’i community, the National Spiritual Assembly, have been elected at this year’s National Baha’i Convention.
Held at the Sydney Baha’i Centre of Learning, the convention brings together delegates from across Australia to consult on community affairs, make recommendations and suggestions to the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of Australia, and elect the members who will serve on the institution for the upcoming year.
The Baha’i election process gives each delegate freedom to vote confidentially for those of his or her own choosing among all the adults of the national community. It is a democratic process that is sacred and dignified, free from nomination or campaigning.
The members elected to serve on the National Spiritual Assembly for the upcoming year are Shayan Ta’i, Natalie Mobini-Kesheh, Reena Torabi, Anton Jones, Kia Manouchehri, Christopher Heggie, Lalomilo Tauveve, Fiona Scott, and Saloomeh Mohebbaty.
