Video showcases spirit of reverence and service manifest during Brisbane youth Temple visit
A video released following the Brisbane youth visit to the Sydney Baha’i House of Worship showcases how the Temple can act as a source of inspiration and empowerment, moving individuals towards service in their community.
The youth journeyed to the Temple at the end of November to prepare for their summer of service. The experience provided the young people with the chance to reflect on the role of prayer and the link between worship and service.
One youth said that “it was so overwhelming in the best way possible. I hadn’t experienced anything like that as you walk in. Immediate reverence and everyone else took to it immediately.”
Another remarked that “we just finished our devotion in the Sydney Temple and it was really beautiful. A few of us teared up.”
The young people also had the opportunity to engage in practical acts of service during their two days on-site through assisting in preparations for the building’s upcoming renovation. One participant said this allowed them to talk “to those they wouldn’t normally before … this is such a special opportunity and we’re only here for a couple of days.”
“These are the people that we’re going to serve with for the rest of our lives,” he said.
Another youth said the opportunity motivated her “to want to serve a lot more” in her home community.
