New leather-bound book of sacred texts to support community-building efforts

A softcover edition of a new major work published to support the many thousands of community-building endeavours unfolding across Australia and the world can now be purchased through the Baha’i Books website. 

Titled Baha’i Sacred Writings, the book was published at the request of the international governing body of the Baha’i Faith, the Universal House of Justice. Comprising 257 selections from the Writings of Baha’u’llah and 241 from the Writings and quotations of ‘Abdu’l-Baha, the leather-bound version can now be purchased online for a price that has been made accessible to all. 

With many excerpts quoted in the materials of the Ruhi Training Institute, the book is designed to serve as a resource that will support and reinforce community-building efforts unfolding in neigbourhoods everywhere and to increase access to the Writings of the Baha’i Faith. 

A message from the Universal House of Justice to national governing bodies of the Baha’i Faith all around the world stated that the resource would “enrich the home of every conscientious soul working shoulder to shoulder with those around them in the processes of community building, social action, and participation in the discourses of society.” 

According to the team behind Baha’i Books, the project required a quality publication at an accessible price while delivering a “rich tactile experience”. 

Collaborating with national governing bodies in Papua New Guinea, Malaysia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, the team was able to increase the print order and reduce the cost per item – albeit adding considerable complexity to the project. 

The team adds that design decisions were made through the guidance of the national governing body of the Baha’i Faith, the National Spiritual Assembly of Australia. They said the experience of a leather-like cover adds “colour, texture, warmth” to the final product with external stitching and a debossed design all carefully considered.
