Festivals embracing children, junior youth and adults into vibrant pattern of community life

A group of children’s class teachers and parents from Western Australia’s south west region have made it part of their pattern of community life to gather, plan and carry out family festivals for their neighbourhood.

Groups of families gather at the Bunbury family festival with children and junior youth participating in a picnic together as well as special lessons and activities.

Meeting regularly to study, reflect and act, the group aims to embrace more young ones into the program for the spiritual education of children while engaging more parents into the fold.

During one of the recent festivals in Bunbury, the group extended the invitation to the junior youth group, with the event also featuring a children and junior youth picnic, lessons in the park, Tai Chi conducted by one of the parents, and lots of socialising.

Bunbury’s Nasim Ghoddosi said parents eagerly supported and were engaged in all the activities, with the group of families widening the circle of those participating in the community-building activities.
