New Baha’i House of Worship announced for the Philippines
The international governing body of the Baha’i Faith, the Universal House of Justice, has announced that a new national Baha’i House of Worship is set to be constructed in the vicinity of Manila in the Philippines.
In a message circulated to National Spiritual Assemblies around the world on 8 April 2025, the Universal House of Justice said:
It is with hearts brimming with joy that we announce that the conditions in the Philippines now make it possible for a national Mashriqu’l-Adhkár to be raised up in the vicinity of Manila. The project to construct this edifice joins the six other Temple projects announced since the commencement of the Nine Year Plan.
The Universal House of Justice
The institution of the Mashriqu’l-Adhkar, translated as ‘The Dawning Place of the Mention of God’, was ordained by Baha’u’llah Himself. Baha’i Houses of Worship, also known as Baha’i Temples, stand as a symbol of the oneness of humanity. They are places of worship open to people of all beliefs, giving concrete purpose to the expression of devotion and service to humanity.
Baha’is throughout the world are planting seeds from which Houses of Worship will eventually grow. The process begins with simple efforts to open personal and collective spaces for prayer which are then integrated with acts of service from which an evolving pattern of activity blooms.
The eventual establishment of a physical edifice marks an important stage in the fulfilment of Baha’u’llah’s vision for Houses of Worship.
