Rain doesn’t dampen spirit of magical Hampton Park educational camp
A youth-led winter educational camp has welcomed tens of children and junior youth from the neighbourhood of Hampton Park in exploration of spiritual concepts including love, joy, unity and friendship.
Held at the Mount Morton Baha’i Centre of Learning, the camp was launched with “a tunnel to welcome our children into a space where they learn about different concepts”.

The junior youth, aged 12 to 15, studied books from the Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program curriculum, including Wellspring of Joy, Habits of an Orderly Mind, and Drawing on the Power of the Word and the children completed sessions from the Ruhi children’s class curriculum. Arts and crafts were a staple of the program.
The program also featured music, games, recreation and sport, and plenty of food.
“We’re at camp to gain knowledge,” said one participant. “And to build our stronger capacities,” added another.
“With raining days, cold nights, a little bit of sunshine, our junior youth and children made this camp magical,” one facilitator wrote.
